All watercolours are for sale, price by negatiation ranging from £150 to £500 unframed and unmounted, including delivery to mainland UK. Subjects of my watercolours are primarily architectural and from around Europe, including London, Liverpool, Manchester, Scotland, Wales, France, Paris, Austria, Salzburg, Vienna, Germany and Spain. Most paintings are 15 x 22".

About John Leech:

I have always painted. Since training at Blackpool Fine Art Foundation Course, through years of various jobs around the UK I've created watercolours. However, it is only since moving to the Lake District that I have loosened up and started producing more lively work.

I paint a range of subjects, my favourite being old buildings - big ones - and preferably with a feeling of symmetry and a clock on them. Most of my watercolours are painted on location, usually sat on the floor with my paper flat so that I can move my arm freely. I paint in rain, hail or shine. Well, not so much in hail, but a bit of light rain won't stop me. This means that each watercolour is affected by the weather, some drying as soon as the brush touches the paper, others seeming never to dry - and in some cases, some getting wetter as I sit there. If you see me painting please say hello, there are moments of intense concentration in a painting where I won’t be very responsive, but I’m usually happy to talk!

My main aim in each picture is to enjoy creating an image, to take in the subject and hopefully understand it more fully. If other people enjoy my finished watercolour paintings, then so much the better. I’m pleased to display my favourites on this site for your enjoyment, and all paintings are available for sale.

I give straight talking analysis concentrating on content, composition and interpretation - all aimed at encouraging the artist, no matter what the current standard.
