NB not to be confused with John Leech (1817-1864)! He studied medicine at St. Bartholomew's where he was noted for excellent anatomical drawings. He created political cartoons in the early years of Punch and the Illustrated London News. His work for publishers lead to him meeting Charles Dickens for whom he illustrated A Christmas Carol.
